Chasm Lake – Utterly spellbinding yet somehow utterly real

Lucky to have chanced upon this light show, performed at about 12,000 ft. (Now you don’t see it)…

…for whoever happens to be present (Now behold!)

You’d think this was close to the top of the trail, but this is actually the starting point for the hike to Chasm Lake

Winds picked up significantly after crossing the alpine tundra

It started to snow as I was walking along this path

Almost to Chasm Lake by this point

Some rock-scrambling, route-finding hmm

Yup, the map was pretty accurate

An alpine lake with a lot of pizzazz!

It was a happy surprise.

Emerald Lake

Had to scramble up the side of a falls to get to this spot. Sky Pond lies ahead.

Sky Pond, at ~11,000 ft.

Time for my car to do some of the climbing: Trail Ridge road, at almost 12,000 ft.

There are a few short trails along Trail Ridge road
