Where I stayed in Portland. Very grateful to have had such welcoming and kind hosts.
Portland has a good balance of clean city lines…
… and the ragged and frayed texture of nature.
And lots of books
And people fighting for what they believe in
And those who keep things from getting out of control,
including this guy

City of Lovers…
… (I totally made that up)
Honestly THE BEST AirBnB I’ve stayed at. Ever.
For $54/night, I got this super clean and cozy space, with snacks, tea, coffee.
Complete with a private mini-backyard that you won’t see here in this gallery. Sorry.
Yup I got fancy here — Brunch by the lake: stuffed french toast with fresh strawberries, bacon and a nice cup of cappuccino.
Stumbled upon this local ice cream shop in Plains, Montana
And discovered this Heavenly Huckleberry Ice Cream (now probably my favorite)
First time seeing a bear
Morning of my drive heading into Glacier National Park
But first, coffee.

Highline Trail. Can you see the people?
Mountain goat!
Bighorn sheep!
More mountain goats!!
Only got to explore the East half of this road, due to fires in the west.
Grinnell Glacier Hike! A section of the trail was closed, due to frequenting of grizzlies in the area. A detour had to be taken, which would add about 1 mile in total.
About 2 min in from the start of the trail, bear poop!
My interest in geology, slowly rising.
Views from the trail heading up to Grinnell Glacier
Grinnell & Salamander Glacier, first sighting! And that lake.
Instant energizer. I had the biggest smile on my face upon reaching this place.
This is not my biggest smile btw
The water’s cool, calm demeanor resisting the sun’s heat
Stayed here for about an hour, trying to take it all in.
A definite bonus to the hike was the fascinating geologic processes and origins of this landscape, imparted to us throughout the hike, by our excellent guide, ranger Ross.
Observing a Golden Eagle flying over the valley. Only four of us decided to push thru and go higher. We turned back from a point called Devil’s Elbow.
Views from the switchbacks going up to Swiftcurrent Pass.
Swiftcurrent, a glacial valley.
We started there at the distance, at the valley floor.
Campsite #1 (At St. Mary’s)
Camp dinner! Eggs and sausages
Campsite #2 (Many Glacier)
This…
is…
… the life.
My tired but happy feet (relaxing after the Grinnell Glacier hike)
Huckleberry ice cream #2! Ice cream stopover after exiting Glacier.
